‘Most patriotic band’ pens theme for Sarah Palin’s new show

Sarah Palin’s upcoming cable series about the great outdoors officially has a theme song.
Sportsman Channel, which debuts “Amazing America with Sarah Palin” next week, enlisted the rock outfit Madison Rising for the tune. The group, self-described as “America’s Most Patriotic Band,” is probably best known for its unconventional rendering of “The Star Spangled Banner.”
In keeping with the show’s subject matter, the theme song’s lyrics contain references to nature, flags, glory, dogs, horses, trucks and guns. “Red, wild and blue is our way of life,” sings frontman Dave Bray in one verse. “And we never back down to a challenge or a fight. Nature provides and God gives the rights. We’re Americans.”

According to Sportsman Channel, the band has a strong following among military personnel, veterans, bikers and gun-rights supporters. The rockers have played at military and USO events, NFL halftime shows and NASCAR races and have opened for the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steppenwolf, Kansas and Toby Keith, the network said.
Not every audience has been receptive. Madison Rising’s performance of the National Anthem before this year’s Daytona 500 raised enough hackles for the band to issue a news release to defend their version, saying the crowd wasn’t prepared for a “nontraditional” “Star Spangled Banner.” Perhaps the band and Jose Feliciano can compare notes.
In Palin’s “Amazing America,” the Republican former vice presidential candidate presents stories from across the country, featuring people and places connected to the American outdoors.
This will be the first reality TV show from the former Alaska governor since “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” which aired for one season on TLC ending in early 2011 and featured music by the Christian rock band Third Day.
The Mama Grizzly’s new series debuts on Sportsman Channel on Thursday, April 3, at 8 p.m.
