Medicare’s Part D website is https://www.medicare.gov/pdphome.asp. You can use the site’s Plan Finder to find plans in your area by putting in your Medicare number and your drug names and dosages. Or call (800) 633-4227. Help is available 24/7.
California Health Advocates, https://www.cahealthadvocates.org, offers good background on the Part D program, but information specific to the 2011 benefit program won’t be available there until December.
The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program provides phone counseling. If you reach a recording, someone will call you back. Call (800) 434-0222 for advice or to locate the closest office.
The Medicare Rights Center in New York City offers a great interactive website that lets you ask specific questions. Go to MedicareRights.org and click on “Get Answers” on the home page. It also offers phone assistance at (800) 333-4114. If no one is available when you phone, a counselor will return your call.
