Challenges to program cuts

The courts have blocked numerous attempts by the state to cut healthcare programs. Among the cases the state has lost recently:

Case: Independent Living Center vs. state of California

Issue: 10% cut in reimbursement rate to Medi-Cal healthcare providers

Cost: $1.8 billion

Case: Dominguez vs. Schwarzenegger & V.L vs. Wagner

Issue: Staff wage cuts and reduced access to home care

Cost: $258.1 million

Case: Cota vs. David Maxwell-Jolly

Issue: Reduced access to Adult Day Health Care centers

Cost: $48.1 million

Case: California Pharmacists Assn. vs. David Maxwell-Jolly

Issue: Cut in prescription drug reimbursements

Cost: $39.1 million
