Birth of a mural at the Fowler Museum

Ever wonder how a mural comes to be?
If you have a few hours (or days) to spare, watch artist Gronk create a site-specific mural at the Fowler Museum as part of the “Art, Activism, Access: 40 Years of Ethnic Studies at UCLA” exhibit.
Gronk, who has tackled projects as varied as street murals and opera set design, will be working on the Fowler mural during two three-day periods, April 21 through 23 and April 28 through 30. It will then be on display in the exhibit’s entry space.
The mural is to depict current ethnic struggles. The larger exhibit, on view through mid-June, explores the university’s role in expressing issues of underrepresented communities in America as the call for civil rights grew louder and features a display of murals, photographs, films and ephemera from campus archives.
