Praise for a college education

Re: “A higher degree of thrift,” July 26:

I applaud President Obama’s backing of community colleges. I earned an AA degree from L.A. Valley College in 1982, transferred to a California State University, eventually obtaining a master’s degree. I cannot emphasize enough the wonderful value of a community college education.

I work as a professional librarian in Los Angeles. And I truly enjoy and value my career.
