Water conservation credits: An article in Section A on July 21 about rebates provided by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s conservation credits program for water-saving toilets and appliances said the MWD has stopped paying vendors and customers for installing such devices, and that in May the water district moved to suspend the program. In fact, the MWD stopped making the payments in June. On July 14 the board voted to approve payments for the backlog of requests; the MWD is in the process of resuming those payments, but no checks have been issued. The board stopped accepting new applications for rebates in May and has not begun to offer them again, but plans to relaunch the program soon.
