Parking fee would pay guards

IAM one of those Music Center patrons who last month learned the hard way that the parking lot across the street at the Department of Water and Power headquarters is no longer available for Music Center parking [“Parking Leaves a Lot to Be Desired,” by Mike Boehm, Oct. 14].
I fail to see just what the problem is. The article mentioned the need for extra security, but with 350 spaces at $8 per car, the cost for extra security would have to approach $2,800 before DWP would risk taking a loss on the deal; that seems like a lot of money for a few officers for six hours or so.
