A man was crushed to death Thursday when a bin loaded with rocks and debris tipped over and fell on him. Police Sgt. Tim Schmidt said the unidentified man was loading the rubble into a container known as a sifter, which separates rock from debris.
He was standing next to the container when it fell, Schmidt said. The victim died instantly, he said. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The 10:50 a.m. accident at an industrial site is under investigation by the California Occupational Safety and Health agency.
