Robinson sparks Fullerton to victory over Davis

Frank Robinson had 21 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in Cal State Fullerton’s 88-66 victory over UC Davis on Saturday night at Davis, Calif.

Josh Akognon had 22 points, five rebounds, and three steals, and Scott Cutley added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Titans (11-6, 4-2 Big West).

Vince Oliver had 29 points, five rebounds, and three assists and Mark Payne added six points, eight rebounds, and seven assists for the Aggies (8-10, 2-3).

Pacific 59, UC Irvine 53 -- Anthony Brown had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Tigers past the Anteaters at Stockton.

Brown’s 17-foot jump shot gave the Tigers their biggest lead at 54-44 with four minutes remaining to play, and Pacific (13-5, 4-1 Big West) held off a late Irvine rally.

Michael Hunter and Patrick Sanders each scored 15 points to lead Irvine (7-11, 2-3).

UC Riverside 70, Long Beach State 66 -- Larry Cunningham scored 20 points and Aaron Scott had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Highlanders (4-12, 1-4 Big West) over the 49ers at Riverside.

Riverside (4-12, 1-4) overcame a seven-point second-half deficit in earning its first conference victory and snapping a six-game losing streak. Donovan Morris had 19 points for Long Beach (4-12, 1-4).

Saint Mary’s 79, Pepperdine 74 -- Diamon Simpson had 17 points and 14 rebounds at Moraga, Calif., to help lead the Gaels (15-2, 2-0 West Coast Conference) past the Waves, who were playing their first game under interim coach Eric Bridgeland.

Pepperdine (6-13, 0-3) lost its seventh consecutive game to Division I competition. The Gaels’ biggest lead was 11 points with 6:25 remaining, but Pepperdine fought back to within three points.

Santa Clara 58, Loyola Marymount 33 -- Brody Angley scored 20 points and the Broncos held the Lions only 33.3% shooting at Santa Clara, Calif.

The last time Loyola Marymount (4-15, 1-2 West Coast Conference) scored less than 35 points was during the 1949-50 season when they lost to UC Santa Barbara, 61-31. It was the fourth time since then the Lions had failed to score at least 40 points in a game.

It was the fewest points the Broncos (9-8, 1-1) have given up since Feb. 20, 1988 when they defeated St. Mary’s, 40-38.

UC Santa Barbara 75, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 60 -- Alex Harris scored 31 points and the Gauchos (14-4, 3-2 Big West) defeated the Mustangs (6-11, 1-4) at San Luis Obispo.
