* Tampa Bay 3, at Pittsburgh 0: Penguins star Sidney Crosby suffered a badly sprained ankle while crashing into the rear boards leg-first midway through the first period. He was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, an injury to the large ligament that connects the two biggest bones in the lower leg, the tibia and fibula.
* at Carolina 7, Edmonton 2: All-Star Eric Staal scored three goals, one on a penalty shot, and the Hurricanes ended a four-game losing streak. The Oilers were skating in Raleigh, N.C., for the first time since losing Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup finals.
* Florida 2, at New Jersey 1: Backup goalie Craig Anderson made 31 saves and the Panthers ended a three-game losing streak and gave Jacques Martin his 500th coaching victory.
* at Buffalo 10, Atlanta 1: Drew Stafford and Derek Roy had hat tricks and the Sabres ended a 10-game winless skid. It was Stafford’s first three-goal game, and he also had two assists for a career-high five points.
* Chicago 2, at Colorado 1 (SO): Robert Lang and Patrick Kane scored in a shootout to lift the Blackhawks. The Avalanche played without center Paul Stastny, who underwent an appendectomy on Thursday.
* Ducks 4, at Minnesota 2: The Ducks are 12-2-2 since the return of defenseman Scott Niedermayer and the acquisition of center Doug Weight.
* at Calgary 6, Kings 1: Daymond Langkow’s hat trick helped end the Kings’ three-game winning streak.
