Leftists appear to win election

TIMES WIRE REPORTS
Leftist Social Democrats who promised to soften the effect of the global economic crisis won the most votes in parliamentary elections, projections showed.
Two exit polls gave the party, which includes former Communist-era leaders, about 36% of the vote. President Traian Basescu’s centrist Democratic Liberal Party was projected to win just under 31%, and Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu’s center-right National Liberal Party about 20%.
