Hiker dies in fall from beach cliff

A woman died Monday after falling from a cliff overlooking a Marin County beach.
The hiker and a male companion were standing above Rodeo Beach, a popular recreation spot in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, when the accident happened about 3 p.m.
The Coast Guard used a helicopter to rescue the man from the rocky hillside and took him to a hospital in stable condition.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said the man was injured when he tried to rescue the woman after her fall.
