Party endorses Ridley-Thomas

The county Democratic Party endorsed state Sen. Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Los Angeles) on Tuesday night in the race to replace retiring Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke in District 2.
Councilman Bernard C. Parks, believed to be Ridley-Thomas’ strongest challenger in the crowded field, said Wednesday through his campaign spokesman that he was never invited to participate.
But party Chairman Eric C. Bauman said all of the Democratic candidates were invited but Parks didn’t show up for the endorsement interview.
“It’s an easy excuse to say that the Democratic Party excluded him, but this is serious business; we’re not playing games here,” Bauman said.
