LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Wesley Carroll threw for two touchdowns and Mississippi State forced a season-high six turnovers in a 31-14 victory over No. 14 Kentucky on Saturday.
Kentucky, 6-2 overall and 2-3 in the Southeastern Conference, has lost two straight since knocking off then-No. 1 Louisiana State in triple overtime.
A loss to Florida on Oct. 20 dashed the Wildcats’ national championship hopes, and this homecoming loss to the Bulldogs probably knocks them out of the SEC title race too.
Kentucky’s Andre Woodson was sacked three times and had three second-half passes intercepted.
A year after the Wildcats turned their season around with a victory in Starkville, the Bulldogs returned the favor in Lexington to put themselves one win away from bowl eligibility.
Mississippi State (5-4, 2-3) won on the road for the third time this season, including another signature victory last month at Auburn.
