Take care when trashing toxic toys
Toys that have been recalled by manufacturers for containing lead-based paint and other hazardous or toxic material should not be thrown out in regular trash, city sanitation officials warned Monday.
The City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation told residents that unsafe toys should be returned to the manufacturer or store, or disposed of at a city hazardous materials center.
City hazardous material collection sites, or S.A.F.E. centers, should be used for the disposal of solvents, automotive parts, flammables and electronics.
