Stop All the Clocks

Tuesday is Be Late for Something Day. This is one of our favorites. We like it so much we are accused of observing it a little too often. Richard Keane, an expert in punctuality after 35 years in sales at Feldmar Watch Co. on Pico Boulevard, says there is one sure way to celebrate: “Be late to your own funeral.” Other than that, you could watch “Before Sunset,” starring Ethan Hawke, at right, as an American writer who sees the woman of his dreams again in Paris, nine years after first meeting her. The woman is played by Julie Delpy and, well, if it were us, we’d be chronically late on account of her. Stop reading now if you haven’t seen the movie, but it ends with her saying (cue Nina Simone music): “Yo, baby, you gonna miss that plane,” and him with a smile replying, “I know.”
