Milberg Loses Lead Role in Medtronic Case

A judge overseeing scores of lawsuits accusing Medtronic Inc. of selling defective heart devices ordered Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman, the law firm representing some of the plaintiffs, removed from a leadership role in the case.
U.S. District Judge James Rosenbaum said he kicked Milberg Weiss off the plaintiffs’ steering committee because Mitchell Breit, an attorney with the firm, failed to inform the court of the criminal probe that resulted in last month’s indictment of the firm and two of its partners on charges that they paid kickbacks to clients.
