Airport Expansion Plan Moves Forward

A plan to upgrade and expand the terminal at Long Beach Airport is moving ahead, despite opposition from the school district and some residents. Two weeks ago, the City Council approved an environmental impact report on the work.
Late Tuesday, an effort to rescind that approval failed 5 to 4. The council did, however, direct city staff to meet with opponents to try to address their concerns and extend the legal deadline for them to file lawsuits should that effort fail.
