A controversial zoning ordinance and general plan amendment regulating homes and wineries in Temecula’s tourist- friendly wine country was unanimously introduced by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
Designed to protect the agricultural region from development, the proposed guidelines stipulate that local wines must contain 75% local grapes and wineries must have capacity to produce 3,500 gallons annually, among other regulations.
The new rules are expected to be adopted Jan. 24.
