From Times Wire Reports
A British jury began deliberations in the trial of an Islamic cleric charged with inciting the murder of Jews and other non-Muslims and fomenting racial hatred. Egyptian-born Abu Hamza al Masri could face life in prison if convicted.
During the trial, prosecutors played speeches given by Masri, 47, a former imam at London’s Finsbury Park mosque.
The mosque has been linked to terrorist suspects, including alleged Sept. 11 plotter Zacarias Moussaoui and convicted “shoe bomber” Richard Reid.
Masri has said the charges are politically motivated.
