Ageless monsters

Re “Determined to bring last Nazis to justice,” Dec. 26
Contemplating the emotional dilemma of prosecuting ailing senior citizens for 60-year-old crimes against humanity, I considered what my elderly parents told me: “When I think of myself, I don’t see myself old. Even now I see and think of myself young.” I imagine this very human condition is just as true for the 90-year-old monsters who committed crimes against humanity in their youth.
We may see an old body, but we are hearing a young criminal mind denying its crimes while preying on our emotions. Young or old, these people need to be run into the ground as a lesson for those who may choose not to control their destructive urges.
