Traffic Fatality Spike Worries Officials

Deaths in traffic crashes have spiked in the city this year, worrying safety advocates and city officials.
Twenty-nine people have died -- three more than in all of 2005. The victims included a bicyclist and 15 pedestrians.
During the last decade, 1998 was San Francisco’s deadliest year for traffic crashes. That year, 53 people died, including 32 pedestrians.
