Council Imposes Labor Pact; Walkout Possible
- Share via
The City Council voted 12 to 0 Tuesday to impose a new contract on the Engineers and Architects Assn., the union that represents about 8,000 of the city’s professional, administrative and technical employees.
The union members have worked without a contract since June 2004. The three-year pact covers 2004 through 2007 and provides for a retroactive 4% raise for the last two years, and a 2.25% bump early next year. Union officials, who have sought raises more in line with those granted to Department of Water and Power workers and police, renewed their threat to call a two-day strike beginning Tuesday.
