Cameron Mackintosh and the Shanghai Grand Theatre have entered into a long-term agreement to co-produce Chinese-language versions of such Western musicals as “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats,” featuring Chinese performers, musicians and technical staff.
“Les Miserables,” which Mackintosh took to the Shanghai Grand as an English-
language production in 2002 for an extended run, is slated to open in 2007 as the first joint production of the new partnership.
