Hindu Priest Shot Dead; Police Blame Rebels

A prominent Hindu priest was shot dead in southwestern Nepal, police said, blaming communist rebels fighting to topple the Hindu monarchy.
Narayan Prasad Pokhrel, chief of the World Hindu Council’s Nepal chapter, was attacked by six unidentified gunmen outside a guest house where he was staying in Ramuhapur, a village about 185 miles southwest of the capital, Katmandu, a police officer said.
One of Pokhrel’s aides was wounded.
