Lemony Snicket tops list of kids’ favorites

What was the best kids’ book of 2004?
More than 1,400 readers of Disney Adventures magazine voted and the winner was ... “The Grim Grotto” by Lemony Snicket, the 11th book in Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”
This is the sixth year that the magazine has had kids pick their favorite books. Here are some of their other choices:
* General fiction: “The Report Card” by Andrew Clements.
* Sci-fi/fantasy: “Dragon Rider” by Cornelia Funke.
* Humor: “Judy Moody, M.D.: The Doctor Is In” by Megan McDonald.
* Historical fiction: “The Teacher’s Funeral: A Comedy in Three Parts” by Richard Peck.
* Adventure: “The End of the Beginning” by Avi.
