Two bank robbers took a woman hostage at gunpoint and used her as a shield as they left a Wells Fargo bank in Mission Viejo, authorities said Sunday.
The 29-year-old woman was released unharmed at 1:14 p.m. in front of the bank at La Paz Road and Muirlands Boulevard shortly after the bank robbery Saturday, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The unidentified woman’s children were inside a car parked outside the bank, he said.
The robbers were described as wearing blue hats and Halloween-type masks, Amormino said.
