Rocket Launcher Causes Evacuation at LAX

Authorities evacuated the Southwest Airlines ticketing lobby in Terminal 1 of Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday after a man was found to have a rocket launcher in his checked luggage.
The man was a defense contractor going to Orlando, Fla., with the training weapon, which had been modified and no longer launched rockets, authorities said. The partial evacuation began about 12:57 p.m. and lasted about 30 minutes.
