Shaquille O’Neal made sure the arena was filled. Dwyane Wade took care of sending the record crowd home happy.
Wade scored 28 points and O’Neal added 17 points and nine rebounds in his home debut for his new team as Miami beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 92-86, Thursday night in front of 20,235, the biggest home crowd in Heat history.
“I knew what I was doing when I got traded,” said O’Neal, sent to Miami by the Lakers over the summer. “I’m a student of the game. I wanted to go somewhere where I wouldn’t have to start over. This is the team.”
Denver 94, Minnesota 92 -- Earl Boykins made a 19-foot jump shot with seven seconds left in overtime to lift the Nuggets at Denver. Kevin Garnett missed the final shot for Minnesota.
