RE “Round Pegs in a Square World” [Oct. 28]: The article on portable circular structures was interesting.
However, the Mongolian people refer to their traditional dwellings as “gers,” and two-thirds of Outer Mongolians still live in them. The term “yurt” was introduced by the Russians during the Stalinist purges and never adopted by the Mongolians.
