Carriers Rescind Increase on Some Fares

American Airlines, Continental Airlines Inc. and three other U.S. carriers dropped a fare increase of as much as $20 one way in some U.S. cities after a rival refused to match the higher prices.
AMR Corp.’s American, Continental, Delta Air Lines Inc., UAL Corp.’s United Airlines and US Airways Group Inc. rescinded the increase in some markets after Northwest Airlines Corp. refused to go along.
