Cyclists Show Off ‘Solar Surfer’ Bike

Marin County residents Marco Buoncristiani and Paul Heckel showed off their “Solar Surfer” bike after a successful trip to the Solar Bike Race in Topeka, Kan.
Racers use pedal and solar power along the 60-mile course, but the Marin team’s design stood out. Buoncristiani and Heckel’s bicycle had a surfboard with 146 solar cells above it, providing energy to a motor.
