So much more to St. Augustine
It is too bad that Beverly Beyette missed one of the highlights of St. Augustine, Fla.: the lighthouse [“A Sip of U.S. History,” Jan. 4]. It has a wonderful museum on the lighthouse keepers and a room devoted to the Coast Guard. Flagler College, during World War II, was a Coast Guard training station.
The history of the rebuilding of St. George Street was another thing Beyette missed. Some of the buildings were taken apart block by block to be rebuilt as they were originally.
There is so much to learn in St. Augustine if one goes beyond the tourist attractions.
