I got quite a chuckle from Jeff Wolfe’s Feb. 19 letter, in which he complained that Michael Ramirez’s cartoon showing John Kerry and Jane Fonda “is untrue, it is partisan and, worst of all, it is unfunny,” and concluded, “Get rid of him.”
If all editorial content were held to that high standard, The Times’ opinion pages would cease to exist and columnist Robert Scheer would be putting his talents to better use behind the counter of a convenience store.
Although it’s hard to believe if you read the letters every day, there are two evenly split sides to the political debate in this country. Ramirez’s cartoons serve as an occasional minuscule reminder that not everyone shares the same Bush-bashing beliefs.
