Forest Rules

Re “U.S. Rewrites Rules Governing Forests,” Dec. 23: I see that the U.S. Forest Service under President Bush has finally figured out what was causing it all those problems for all those years: It was all those pesky trees and animals. What a concept! Just get rid of all the trees and that will get rid of all the animals. It’s a public safety issue really. It’s for the children. Just think of how many little kiddies get lost in the woods each year. What about terrorists? They can hide in the forests.
So, the Forest Service is going to get rid of the forests to keep us safe and make the lives of forest managers a heck of a lot easier. Hopefully, they’ll save a few trees and put them in a tree museum.
