Workers puncture Dutch painting

Construction workers accidentally drilled a hole through a 1679 painting worth about $340,000 while renovating the Dutch upper house of parliament, officials said.
The painting, “Portrait of Jacob Cats” by Baroque Dutch painter Ludolf de Jongh, was on loan from the Hague Museum. It has been returned there for repair.
“I’m sure the contractor isn’t pleased, but accidents happen,” parliament spokesman Janwillem Lohwman said.
