Children of Divorce Usually Lose Out
Though I sympathize with John Eisendrath (“Divorced Dads and Fairness,” Commentary, Aug. 8) and applaud his efforts to remain close to his two sons for their best interest, the scenario he describes is all too common among divorced parents. The true best interests of children are met when they are brought up with both parents in an intact home.
Unfortunately, when parents divorce and begin new lives with new spouses and families, the best interests of the children from their divorce take a back seat. The children are forever divided between two households, never being fully a part of either new family. One parent moving away is only one of the issues.
Since being close to his children is important to Eisendrath, perhaps he should consider moving to San Luis Obispo.
