Los Angeles police detectives are seeking the public’s help in finding the killer of an MTA mechanic shot to death in South Los Angeles as he drove home Friday.
Devron La Vell Lewis, 28, was shot about 11 p.m. while driving east in the 5100 block of W. Jefferson Boulevard, said Officer Jason Lee. Witnesses told police that a man stepped into the roadway and began shooting at Lewis’ 1992 Chevrolet Caprice. The gunman then ran from the scene, authorities said.
Lewis, who had just finished his shift, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although the motive is unclear, Lee said the shooting had all the marks of “senseless gang violence.” Anyone with information about the murder is urged to call detectives at (213) 485-2417.
