Coast Guard Cutter Runs Aground

A Coast Guard cutter performing homeland security duties ran aground Tuesday just inside the harbor breakwater, authorities said.
The Morgenthau became stuck in sand about 2 p.m., said Coast Guard Lt. Jerome Dubay. After several tugboats tried to drag the ship off the sand, rising tides apparently set the vessel free about 4:30 p.m., Dubay said.
