Teacher’s Aide Guilty in Deaths of 2 Women

After prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty, a teacher’s aide pleaded guilty to killing two women and burying their bodies in the woods near a Watsonville high school where he worked.
Dennis Lee Richesin pleaded guilty Thursday to murdering Heather Nicole Pereira-Merchant, 25, of Watsonville in August 2000, and Kelly Ann Reber, 21, of San Jose on March 31, 2001.
Richesin, 49, will be sentenced July 2 to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
