The owner of a North Hollywood tattoo shop was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexually assaulting two underage customers, authorities said.
Daniel Victor Rivas, 46, was charged with two felony counts of sexual assault and four misdemeanors--one for sexual battery and three for tattooing underage customers, Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Andrew Bassis said. Rivas faces more than five years in prison if convicted.
Rivas owns Dr. John’s Tattoos in the 6600 block of Lankershim Boulevard, police said.
Between May 2000 and March of this year, Rivas allegedly tattooed three underage girls on their lower backs.
While doing so, he sexually assaulted two of them, who were 16 at the time, Bassis said.
Rivas, who surrendered at the North Hollywood Police Station, is being held at Van Nuys Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, Los Angeles Police Department Det. Daniel Welle said.
