Four over-the-air channels, plus Fox Sports Net, will provide live television coverage of today’s Laker celebration and victory parade in downtown Los Angeles.
A ceremony at City Hall featuring Mayor James Hahn and other city officials will begin at 10:30 a.m., with Laker players and coaches scheduled to arrive at 11.
The principals then will be taken to Third and Figueroa streets for the start of the parade at 11:30. The parade, scheduled to last 1 hour 40 minutes, will go down Figueroa to Staples Center.
Eleven double-decker buses carrying the players will travel the route, said Staples Center spokesman Michael Roth.
The celebration at Staples Center is scheduled to begin at 12:50 p.m.
Officials are expecting about a million fans.
Channel 9, the Lakers’ over-the-air flagship station, and Channel 7 will go on the air at 10 a.m. Channel 11 and Fox Sports Net will begin coverage at 10:30.
Channel 4 will join in at 11, but because NBC’s U.S. Open coverage begins at noon, the NBC-owned station will cut away for two hours before returning for more Laker coverage at 2 p.m.
Radio stations KLAC (570), KXTA (1150), KSPN (1110) and KMPC (1540) will also be providing extensive coverage.
