From Times Staff Reports
The City Council will consider an ordinance this month to raise water and sewer rates.
City staff members told the council that the rate hike, the first since 1994, is necessary because of a growing number of customers and increasing costs to the city. The ordinance would raise water rates by about 9% and sewer rates by about 12% and would generate nearly $2.5 million in additional revenue a year.
The council will hear the ordinance and public comment on June 17. If adopted, the new rates would take effect July 29.
