A 16-year-old Oxnard girl has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and causing a hit-and-run crash while intoxicated after allegedly running over a man inside his garage last week, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Francisca Amezcua remained in custody Wednesday pending arraignment in Juvenile Court on Monday, prosecutors said.
If convicted, the Channel Islands High School junior would face up to four years in the California Youth Authority.
Authorities alleged Amezcua was drunk May 31 when she struck Evarado Ramirez, 32, with his pickup truck inside the garage in the 500 block of East Dollie Street.
Amezcua fled on foot after the incident, authorities said. Ramirez suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Authorities have not stated the nature of the relationship between Amezcua and Ramirez.
