‘Poor Judgment’ Ruled in Underwear Inspection

A vice principal at Rancho Bernardo High School who checked to see if girls attending a dance were wearing thong underwear “used extremely poor judgment” and violated privacy rules set in district policy and the state Education Code, a Poway school system report has concluded.
The report, prepared by two top district officials and forwarded to the superintendent, criticized Vice Principal Rita Wilson and counselor Natalie Johnson for checking girls’ underwear for dress code violations before an April 26 dance.
In a statement, Poway officials said the report will be studied by the superintendent and others to determine if any punishment should be meted out.
