Defenseman Bryan Berard, forced to retire because of an eye injury, will attempt to play again, USA Today reported.
Berard, 24, is expected to sign a tryout contract with the New York Rangers.
Berard was playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Ottawa Senators on March 11, 2000, when he was struck in the eye by Marian Hossa’s stick as Hossa followed through on a shot.
