Stars Too Much for Hull

The Detroit Red Wings couldn’t help all of their high-profile additions beat their former teams.
They’ve already helped Dominik Hasek beat Buffalo and Luc Robitaille beat the Kings, but couldn’t do the same for Brett Hull against Dallas.
Hull’s two assists were not enough to beat his former team as the Stars defeated the Red Wings, 5-3, Friday night at Detroit to end the Red Wings’ six-game winning streak.
Donald Audette and Sergei Zubov each had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who won for only the second time in seven games.
Robitaille’s second-period goal extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games.
New York Islanders 3, Carolina 2--Mariusz Czerkawski scored a power-play goal with 1:59 left in overtime as the Islanders won at Raleigh, N.C., to remain the NHL’s only team without a regulation loss.
Montreal 5, Buffalo 2--Brian Savage recorded his seventh three-goal game as the Canadiens won at Buffalo, N.Y. Savage scored Montreal’s first three goals.
Atlanta 1, Washington 0--Ilya Kovalchuk scored a power-play goal and Milan Hnilicka stopped 37 shots as the Thrashers got their first home victory of the season.
