Wage Contract With County Workers OKd

Ventura County supervisors approved a labor contract with county government’s largest union Tuesday.
Under the agreement, 4,200 general government workers will receive wage hikes averaging 13% over four years. Starting in July 2002, workers will also earn a 2% annual cost-of-living increase on their retirement pensions.
Members of Service Employees International Union Local 998 are expected to ratify the contract today.
Supervisors also approved a three-year contract with a union representing 175 engineers and maintenance workers.
