New York Mayor-elect Michael Bloomberg announced a 56-member transition team charged with finding candidates for the administration to succeed that of outgoing Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.
Bloomberg named minority leaders, religious leaders, community activists and business executives to help in the search.
Giuliani, a Republican, named about 20 people to a similar team when he took office in 1993, and his Democratic predecessor, David Dinkins, named a large transition team when he took office in 1989.
Leading Bloomberg’s team is Nathan Leventhal, who headed Dinkins’ transition team.
