RENO — Autographed documents by Pony Express founders Alex Majors and William Russell fetched $2,464, and a silver ingot honoring Nevada mining magnate William Sharon sold for $9,296 at an auction.
The sale, held earlier this month by Fred Holabird Americana, netted nearly $230,000, the company said.
Nearly 300 people from the U.S. and 10 other countries took part in the auction.
Sharon got the ingot at an 1876 dinner in his honor at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
